Raga was second in Madrid and is close to vice-championship

14/03/2011
The penultimate round of the SPEA X-Trial allowed to enjoy the best level of the Gas Gas rider.
Adam Raga (Gas Gas) offered this weekend at the Palacio de los Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid their best performance of X-Trial 2011 and forced Toni Bou to apply to the maximum to get the win that finally ensure their first title of the season.

After the disappointment of Adam when he was out of the places of honor at the last meeting in Geneva, the rider prepared the second Spanish race on the calendar ready to regain its better level. Besides fully achieved, also proved highly competitive in one of the more technical and complicated races of the season.

After a qualifying round where he was virtually tied with Jeroni Fajardo in second place, in the semifinal started a real hand in hand with Bou that almost cause a serious error of the champion. The Gas Gas rider would end the last round with 9 points, three more than the winner, though two of these were for time penalties. The sum of points in the semifinal and final, and cumulatively in the race against Bou that closed the trial, leaving Adam with 19 points against 13 scored by the winner and the 25 who scored Albert Cabestany, third.

This result allows the Gas Gas rider to approach the world vice-championship, although the 6 point lead that keeps Cabestany in the staging table will make the final round of the schedule becomes more crucial than ever. The event is next Saturday in Milan (Italy).

Àdam Raga

"I'm quite satisfied with how the race has come. The event has been very tight to the end and although we couldn't get the win, I prefer the good image that we have offered and the proper level that we have showed. It wasn't easy, because the classification sections were quite complicated, so I focused on not penalized for time. After the semifinal I felt very good and we could make a pretty sight. It's important to be able to drive at a level much closer to that of Toni (Bou) than in other races, and still more in a high level trial such as this. Now we must continue in this good line and try to get the vice-championship in the next race. It will not be easy, but if all goes as in Madrid, we can get".
