Cervantes, second in the opening Spanish Championship

The champion had to recover in E2 after a hard fall and Jordi Figueras finished sixth in E3.
La Pobla Tornesa (Castellón) hosted this weekend the premiere of the Spanish Enduro Championship and enjoyed the expected debut of Ivan Cervantes with his new Gas Gas EC 250. In a career marked by the notable presence of international riders before the imminent opening of the World Championship, Ivan was second in Enduro 2 and achieved a remarkable fifth place absolute.

Despite not being able to get the win, the balance of the race was very positive, as the registers allowed Ivan fighting second to second with some riders who are rivals in the international maximum competition. After starting the day setting the fastest time in the first Cross Test, the race would be conditioned soon after by a hard fall on the first pass of the special Extreme that made him lose many seconds behind the winner in E2 and in the Scratch, Cristobal Guerrero. However, the Cambrils grew up and fought back to second place in its class, recovering up to fifteen positions in the absolute classification.

At E3 class, Jordi Figueras was sixth and had an outstanding performance, battling for fourth place until the end with riders of the caliber of Bartosz Oblucki and Marko Tarkkala. Finally, in E1 Josep Rallo was eleventh and also second in 125-U21, while Robert Kvarnström had to leave after a sharp fall.

The Enduro World Championship starts this weekend in Ponts (Lleida) and the Spanish Championship will return on 16th and 17th April in Lalin (Pontevedra).

Iván Cervantes

"Could not win, but I think we did a pretty good career. After winning the first 'special' I made a mistake in the Extreme that I paid very dearly. Still, I could go up, but I've only been second. Anyway, this was a test to see how We were compared our rivals and we have to stay with that the times were very close. Cristobal Guerrero goes very fast but I have held up well in the Enduro Test, we have been ahead in the Cross Test and we have made it harder. This is what counts. It's also true that I'm not felt very comfortable in the Extreme Test, because it was so closer and had a lot of mud, but I'm satisfied. This has only just begun, there is scope for improvement and good feelings".
