Ivan's big debut with two second places in E2 and at
the Scratch. Christophe adds two seconds in E3 and
Ludivine a double victory in females.
The opening of the Enduro World Championship
2011 had a marked GasGas colour after Ivan
Cervantes, Christophe Nambotin and Ludivine
Puy to become important players in the podium of
the Grand Prix AMV of Spain in their respective
categories during the two days of competition.
The inaugural event in Ponts (Lleida) saw a
plethoric Ivan, fighting at all times among the best
in both E2 and in the unofficial absolute ranking.
The good feelings proved Saturday by the Gas
Gas rider, which allowed him to beat Cristobal
Guerrero and be who came closest to the winner,
Antoine Meo, will be confirmed on Sunday with an
even better conduction, which led him to contest
the french's victory until the final test.
The great start of Cervantes in the intermediate
category was completed with a superb
performance by Christophe Nambotin at E3. The
Frenchman also signed a double second place in
the larger class, becoming the most regular and
who pushed harder the double winner in its class,
Mika Ahola.
If Ivan and Christophe closed with high note the
World Championship's debut, even better is the
balance of Ludivine Puy. The World Champion at
the Women's category signed a clear double final
victory ahead Laia Sanz and the French rider also
Gas Gas Blandine Dufrene.
The next weekend Portugal will host the second
grand prix of the season at Vale da Cambra.
Ivan Cervantes
"I'm very happy. Open the
championship with this results is
very positive and allows us to
prove we are competitive with all
those who doubted us. It was a
great race at all levels, very hard
and complete, in which we have
given everything and we have
gone from less to more, so I
think there's still room for
improvement to be even higher.
After a weekend like this, all I
can do is keep working and to
thank the whole team effort and
all who have supported me".
Christophe Nambotin
"It's been a great weekend for
the team and confirms that we
are working well. In my case, I'm
very pleased that Ahola drove
very strong all weekend, but I've
been there and on Sunday was
faster than him in some
specials. We have a good show
and I could push him, so you
have to keep working and
improving. It's true that some
favorites have had problems, but
don't think there was a special
advantage for us".
