Ivan and 'Nambo' podiums on Friday in contrast to
the withdrawal of French and the 4th of Cervantes
on Saturday. Mechanical problems for Melotte.
The Grand Prix of Turkey Enduro, ahead to Friday
and Saturday as a result the legislative elections
that celebrates the country this Sunday, served
the team Gas Gas to discover the two faces of the
competition: The positive have lived the first day
with Ivan Cervantes (fought at the head of E2 and
was second) and Christophe Nambotin (3rd in
E3), while the negative was for Cedric Melotte,
who had an engine failure on Friday and missed
the entire race, the same that 'Nambo' which on
Saturday broke the suspension and not finished.
The thrilling fight that Ivan starred on Friday with
Cristobal Guerrero for the win in E2 meant that
the championship leader, Antoine Meo, had to
settle for being third. That multiplied the
excitement for the second day, although a fall in
the first Enduro Test and lack of traction on the
hard Cross Test affected the Gas Gas rider, which
finished just off the podium by 3'6 seconds.
Despite this 4th place, Ivan is still second overall
after Meo -winner on Saturday-, and increases the
distance with 'Pela' Renet, 5th on Friday and
second on Saturday.
If some falls didn't prevent the Nambotin's podium
on Friday, the second day was harder for the
frenchman. The shoulder of the rear suspension of
his EC 300 was broken in the 7th special when
was fighting for second place in E3. Still, it
remains second in the overall standings behind
Mika Ahola, who scored two wins. In this category,
Jordi Figueras was 7th and 8th and is reinforced in
seventh place in the standings.
The EWC will live their fifth race next weekend in
Meteora and Kalambaka (Greece).
Ivan Cervantes
"After fighting for victory on
Friday, the fourth place on
Saturday may seem poor,
although I'm not much less
unsatisfied, quite the opposite.
In other races, in similar
circumstances, with hard
specials and without traction we
end with a minute to the head
and this time have been only
few seconds that we have
separated the victory. It was a
great race and the goal now is
not to fail, because all is very
tight. I think the team is doing a
great job and earlier this year
we don't aspired to the title,
but now anyone doubts that
we can get it".
