Raga achieves an important victory in Fort William

01/08/2011
The Gas Gas rider staged a spectacular hand in hand with Bou and retrieves options for the title.
Adam Raga has confirmed this weekend in Fort William (Scotland) the upward trend shown in the last events of the world championship and has achieved an important victory against Toni Bou, which will make it available again fight for the World title.

After a first lap in which it has imposed on Bou and Takahisa Fujinami, the Gas Gas rider held a spectacular hand in hand with the world championship leader in the second. Both have shown a much higher level than the rest and have alternated the lead after leaving nearly twenty points to Fujinami, unable to follow them. In a typically Scottish race, very hard physically and marked by rain, water areas and stones, Adam has managed to keep cool in the key moments and ended up taking the win with a total of 30 points against 31 Bou.

Behind the three podium's men, Michael Brown finished in an excellent sixth position, Dougie Lampkin has reappeared in the championship with eighth place and Loris Gubian was tenth. Moreover, Pol Tarrés has confirmed the great performance of Gas Gas riders getting their first win in Junior after drawing on points with Alfredo Gomez.

Because of this success Adam stands out in the second position in the standings with 18 points advantage over Fujinami and Cabestany, and placed only 15 behind Bou when there are four days to play, two in Motegi the 20th and 21th August and the two finals in Isola 2000 (France).

Àdam Raga

"I'm really happy. Today everything went well, despite the rain and that has been a particularly hard race. Throughout the Trial we drove very well and I felt comfortable, but mostly I'm happy because I finally managed withstand pressure well and finish the race in first place. It was one of those days to drive to the fullest and everything goes your way, unlike other races where you give everything but the result is not so good. It has not been easy but has been a great Trial. There's no doubt that we are on good line, so the goal is to go on and repeat this win in three weeks in Japan. There I will open sections, but I don't care ... hopefully always be so".
