Motegi could see the best level of the Gas Gas
rider, who reached a second place and a victory.
The penultimate grand prix of the Trial World
Championship, played this weekend in Motegi
(Japan), has added even more excitement in front
to the classification thanks to the Adam Raga's
exhibition in the japanese two-days race. The Gas
Gas rider came within one point of the first place
of the podium on Saturday and reached a
spectacular victory on Sunday.
Despite the notable handicap that included open
the sections the first day, and even more
considering that the rain on Friday left them
especially slippery, Adam made one of the best
races of the season. After leading the first lap with
a point ahead of Toni Bou, he held this position
until section 4 of the second lap. At that moment
he made the first mistake in all day and lost the
lead, finishing with 32 points, just one more than
the winner. Third place went to local rider
Takahisa Fujinami, with 64 points.
With the return of the rain on Sunday, the
japanese fans have seen an Adam specially
concentrated over a very delicate sections. Again,
his only problem has been seen in zone 4, but his
excellent level has allowed to get one of the most
spectacular victories of the year, ending the day
with 41 points, ten less than Fujinami and twenty
about Bou.
The also Gas Gas riders Loris Gubian and
Michael Brown finished 6th and 8th, on Saturday,
and 8th and 5th, on Sunday, respectively. The
World Championship will be close on 3rd and 4th
September in Isola 2000 (France) in a double race
that can still allow Raga recover the crown of
champion.
Adam Raga:
"I'm happy with the second
place on Saturday, though,
watching the race, I would have
liked to win. It was a shame that
the only mistake we made in the
day cost me the win, but we
struggled and worked very well.
This gave me more strength to
push hard during the Sunday.
I'm specially pleased with the
victory and the important
advantage that I have achieved
in the second day, and
demonstrates the good level of
riding that we have achieved,
and the level of trust we have
with the bike and with all the
team. To win again on Sunday
and finish as close to first place
Saturday is the best in order to
be able to fight back for victory
in the two-day race that remain
to be played in France. I have
already looking forward that
arrives this last Grand Prix of the
season to demonstrate one
more time our level".
