The Gas Gas riders shone on a very difficult terrain
and Jordi Figueras brushed the podium at E3 class.
The return to the activity of the Enduro Spanish
Championship (CEE) allowed to enjoy one intense
racing doubleheader this weekend in the small
town of Valls de Torroella (Barcelona). The rain
that appeared at the first day and the heat of the
second forced the riders to the maximum and
allowed the Gas Gas team to show their
competitiveness and adaptability to all
circumstances.
Cervantes fought on Saturday in the mud for the
absolute podium and for win in E2. The grueling
race conditions brought out the best of Ivan,
despite being strongly influenced by the low grip of
some specials, never ceased in its efforts to beat
Cristobal Guerrero and Juha Salminen in the
general classification. After achieving the fastest
time in several sections, finished second in E2 and
third in the Scratch. For Sunday, with sunshine
and good weather, returned to fight for the Scratch
with Guerrero, adding a new second in E2 and in
the absolute classification.
On the other hand, Jordi Figueras made a big role
in E3. The rider of La Bisbal d'Empordà knew how
to take full advantage of their capacity for suffering
and perseverance, which led him to touch the
podium on both days and add two fourth places.
Josep Ralló was eighth on Saturday and ninth on
Sunday in E2, while Arnau Solà, who returned this
weekend after several months without competing,
couldn't finish the first day and was eighth in the
second in E2.
After this meeting, the team will go to Mende
(France) for closing the World Championship, and
after will arrive consecutively the last two rounds
of the Spanish championship.
Iván Cervantes
"We had a very intense
weekend, with two races very
comprehensive, complicated
and different from one day to
another. The balance is positive,
because we have been fighting
for the top positions and we
have even managed to score
some of the best times in some
tests before our rivals, Guerrero
and Salminen. I'm especially
happy because the bike worked
perfectly in all circumstances,
even with all the mud and ruts
that we are on Saturday. The
truth is that from Andorra we
have a very competitive bike
and this makes that the
motivation be even greater to
these latest races of the year".
Jordi Figueras
"It was a tough race, especially
on Saturday and, although I
would have really liked being on
the podium, I think we can be
satisfied. We worked hard and
I'm very happy for the team, so
we have to keep improving to
get back among the best in this
stretch of the season".
