The second position of Jordi Figueras at E3
completed an excellent weekend for the brand.
The Gas Gas team shone prominently at the final
race of the Enduro Spanish Championship, played
on Sunday in Mont-Roig del Camp (Tarragona),
thanks to the demonstration by Ivan Cervantes
and Jordi Figueras in E2 and E3, respectively.
Ivan triumphed in the intermediate category and at
Scratch, while Jordi took the second place in the
upper class.
The final competition of the season was raced on
a dry and dusty terrain, which made it especially
hard work for riders and motorbikes. This didn't
stop Cervantes crowned the excellent
performance of the EC 250 in the second half of
the year with their first overall victory. Boosted by
its audience and the fact of riding very close to
Cambrils, the Gas Gas rider dominated from the
first test and ended up beating for more than half a
minute to Cristobal Guerrero and more than forty
seconds to Juha Salminen, third Scratch and
winner in E1.
Jordi Figueras starred in one of the best races of
the year in E3, at all times was in podium positions
and even came close to the win, finishing less
than nine seconds from victory. The excellent race
of Figueras was completed with his eighth Scratch
position. Josep Rallo finished in a good sixth in
E2, while Arnau Sola was eighth in the same
class.
This excellent result is interpreted from the Gas
Gas team as a first step in what purports to be the
2012 season in which the entire team is focused
now both in terms of development as at the
adjustment of motorcycles.
Ivan Cervantes
"It was a fantastic race for us.
All year I've been chasing this
result and finally has arrived. It
has also been in front of my
friends and my people. I'm very
pleased with the team's work in
the second half of the season
and the evolution of the bike.
I don't see this victory as the
last possible of 2011, if not the
first of 2012. I'm sure that if
we keep working well, next
season will keep this line. At
the end we were runners-up
behind Cristobal Guerrero, but
my dream now is focused
on developing the new bike
and fight to regain the title
next year".
Jordi Figueras
"It wasn't an easy race, but
I'm very happy with this result.
Some races have ended very
close to the head but we couldn't
get it... and finally this time we
have shown what is the level
where we are. I'm very happy
for the team and all my
people, because everyone
deserves this podium".
