Pere Ibañez, new technical head of Gas Gas Racing

The prestigious catalan specialist will bring its experience in competition and at the new projects of the company in 4-strokes engines.
The policy of consolidation and development of its structure has led Gas Gas to incorporate the prestigious engine technician Pere Ibañez as technical head of the racing department. His extensive experience in the off-road world will enable the firm to continue the upward trend initiated in recent seasons.

The Ibañez arrival to Gas Gas isn't only to enhance the racing department but also the new projects with 4-stroke engine in which the company is working. It's precisely in this specialty in which the Catalan technical has achieved much of its international recognition, with a total of 11 off-road World Championships, nine as a technical and two as head of engine.

Since its beginnings in 1985 as a mechanic of Jordi Elias in Spain, Ibanez was later moved to Brazil where he would work with the American rider Rodney Smith. After the Brazilian experience, Pere remained with Smith on his return to United States, where he began his work with the team Rinaldi, that time collaborator Suzuki in motocross. In 1992, the technical joined Team Yamaha Japan in the Motocross World Championship based in Italy, where has remained until today and has worked alongside some of the main champions of this specialty. In 1996 was integrated in the R&D team of Yamaha Factory, as responsible for the development of new off-road engines for the brand.
