Bad day for Adam Raga at the Girona's Indoor Trial

02/11/2011
The Gas Gas rider fell off the podium after a poor first lap and his title options are complicated.
Traditionally, the arrival of the Trial Indoor Spanish Championship (CETI) to Girona favored Adam Raga and the Gas Gas team, but this time the luck wasn't accompanied them. The public of the Fontajau's sports palace saw Adam suffer more than necessary in the first lap to the sections and three 'fives' sentenced him to stay out of the play-off and the podium places.

The race followed the standard pattern of CETI, with six areas (five in addition to the race in parallel) of sharply opposite level. Thus, some were particularly easy for most of riders and the rest had a point with no options: pass or penalty to the maximum. This time the luck didn't smile Raga, which in zones 2 and 3 ended unexpectedly with the maximum penalty and this was fatal for the rest of his performance.

The Toni Bou's victory makes the championship very difficult for the Gas Gas rider, who is third in the standings with 13 points, one less of Albert Cabestany and seven behind Bou when there's only one race remaining.

The also Gas Gas rider Pere Borrellas, who qualified for the Girona's Indoor Trial with its strong performance at the CETI Junior, finish in an excellent fifth place, while Pol Tarrés suffered some problems that led him to the eighth place.

Adam Raga

"It has been a disappointment. This race is always special and I wanted to do well, but I haven't been fine and I made too many mistakes. It's usual in the CETI's races find very easy sections and others almost impossible, and today we have failed in most of these points of 'all or nothing'. I haven't felt comfortable and I paid dearly. I feel sorry for the team and all the people who expected me to win. We must learn from days like this, because doing it depends on many factors, and today we haven't had all controlled. It's a shame, but we must move forward and work for doesn't happen again".
