Chile submits to Cervantes who already leads the EWC in E2

Ivan was the most consistent with two second positions. McCanney, second in the Junior.
The first race of the Enduro World Championship (EWC) held this past weekend in Chile and Gas Gas enjoyed a great team debut in the Talca race, with Ivan Cervantes leading the overall classification of Enduro 2 and Danny McCanney occupying second place in Enduro Junior.

Cervantes was the most consistent and steady rider in the intermediate category over the two day race, fighting for victory in the first race with Juha Salminen and in the second, 'Pela' Renet. It was precisely the authority demonstrated by Ivan in the Enduro Test -the more complicated and long special test of the race- that was about to lose the win Salminen on the first day and that more errors caused among his rivals throughout the weekend.

Very encouraging was also the debut of Danny McCanney in EJ, in which he fought intensely with Mathias Bellino on both days. On terrain very complicated and not conducive to his style of riding, the first day he finished second and on Sunday he had to settle for third position on the podium.

In E3 Jordi Figueras fought on Saturday to enter the top ten, finishing finally in 11 th, and the second day he suffered a little more and finished in 13 place.

Another highlight of the Chilean race was the season debut of Ivan Cervantes’ motorcycle, the new EC 450 F, with aesthetics that will identify the new model of the 2012 Cervantes Replica.

Ivan Cervantes

"I'm very happy with how things have gone. I was very excited and looking forward to the debut with this new bike in the world championship, and the results have been fantastic. I didn't win the podium, but I leave here as the leader of E2, which is most important in the overall view of the fight to be the World Champion. Consistency is vital in a category like this and this weekend has become very clear. The race in Chile was complicated, with special difficulties and lengthy, plus much dust and many stones, so that I have achieved two second places is really very well. Worst of all is that it has been so hot that this has made it even harder. I hope to continue this good path next week and even get the victory".
