Laia Sanz is proclaimed trial world champion

24/09/2012
She has done it again! Laia Sanz is proclaimed trial world champion for the twelfth time.
The Gas Gas rider has overcome all the setbacks at the Swiss women's world championship race and has achieved a victory that has shown her hard work to acheive world title number 12. In Tramelan were extreme conditions: heavy rain, unusually difficult zones for a world championship event and a high level female challenger. Laia Sanz came to Switzerland whilst convalescing from the injury to her right big-toe. In fact, last week she again underwent surgery to solve this complicated injury. With pain and more than two months without Trial training Laia Sanz' usual courage was faced with this new challenge.

And as usual, the more complicated you make things, the more this pilot applies herself to achieve her goals. After the first lap, she had only a one point lead over Emma Bristow. But on the second lap through the slippery Swiss zones, Laia Sanz has made a difference and arrived 7 points ahead of Bristow. With the win in the World Women's Swiss event, the Gas Gas rider confirms her supremacy in this field in a year where injuries and dedication to other disciplines such as World Enduro (where she leads the standings) has taken preparation time from the specialty where she has reigned for more than a decade.

Her adaptation to the Gas Gas TXT Racing has been exemplary. First season with his new bike, first challenge with a 2 stroke engine and the first world title for Laia Sanz while wearing the colors of Gas Gas.

Now, the brave Catalan rider has time to rest and recover from her injury, while preparing an assault on the world Enduro title that will have the final test in mid-October in France.

LAIA SANZ

"I never imagined that I would win twelve titles. It makes me a little dizzy, but I was lucky to start winning very young and I'm still young enough to keep winning titles. For me this title has an added difficulty. I am indeed, riding with an injury and I'm competing in two specialties, and Dakar enduro and all this has stolen hours of preparation with the motorcycle. For me this title has a special value, after winning a Dakar and for the first time trying to win the World Enduro championship, I could win the title at Trial and that makes me very happy. "
