Great comeback by Adam Raga to finish on the podium in Great Britain

27/07/2013
The Gas Gas rider had a bad start in the Trials Grand Prix of Great Britain, but was able to correct it in the final two laps to finish on the podium and remain eligible for the title. Jorge Casales has won the Junior category.
The first of the two days of the Trial Grand Prix of Great Britain, the seventh GP of the season, has had a bittersweet taste for Adam Raga. The Gas Gas team rider has gone through a bad start to the race, which could not be maintained because of many penalty points on his score card, the same seen by other riders finishing the first lap. The championship leader Toni Bou, has ruled the race in the first two rounds.

However, the Gas Gas rider was able to react in time, and in the second round marked the second best score, making up positions in the interim, coming from sixth in the first lap, then fourth place of the second lap. In the third lap, the equality between the riders was high, despite some mistakes trying to improve his score, resulting in Raga having scored more points than in the first pass through the sections. Nevertheless, the Gas Gas rider has been able to deliver a better card than his direct competitors, achieving third place on the podium.

In the standings, Adam Raga gives-up some points, but still keeps the chances of winning the title. Seven points separate the Ulldecona rider and Toni Bou in the Championship.

The other Gas Gas riders have remained at the bottom of the results, Frenchman Loris Gubian being the best of the international riders of the brand, ranking eighth. The Italian Matteo Grattarola finished behind him. Briton Michael Brown could not shine at home and had to settle for twelfth place, while Pere Borrellas was fourteenth.

The struggle will continue on Sunday, where the weather forecast says rain is possible in Penrith, which would make the twelve sections of the route much more technical than the sunny day Saturday. The riders must complete three laps.

Junior: victory for Jorge Casales

In the Junior category, another success for Jorge Casales, the Galician rider from the Gas Gas School of Champions program. A narrow victory for the Gas Gas rider against who has proven to be his principal rival, Pol Tarres. Casales started the race proving to be the rider in the best form with one penalty point in the group of seven in this second classification. In the second round he held the differences, but on the third lap, a fiasco in the penultimate section maintained the suspense, ending the test winning by a single point ahead of Tarrés at the end of the 36 sections. Finishing in third place, also the Gas Gas rider Francesc Moret, who had a good last lap.
