Good stage for Jordi Viladoms, Gerard Farrés and Gas Gas open the course in the Merzouga Rally

22/10/2013
Jordi Viladoms and Gerard Farrés occupy top ranked positions in the Merzouga Rally after the second special stage today. A complicated navigation stage, where Jordi Viladoms opened track for almost 256 km of special test, finishing in fifth place. Gerard Farrés set the fourth fastest time and Marc Guasch is placed ninth.
Jordi Viladoms has made an impressive stage today on the second day of competition at the Merzouga Rally. After a second place finish in the prologue yesterday, Tuesday was not like the day before, not at all easy and with many challenges. One could lose a lot of minutes in the classification because other riders chose to spend more time in the prologue and to recover today and start making a difference. Viladoms was brave yesterday, and today too. He has overcome the Frenchman Brucy in the first kilometers of the stage and opened up the race for most of it, doing hard work with navigation Gas Gas EC 450 Raid, which did not give him any problems and has come into the Erfoud bivouac in perfect condition. Viladoms finished fifth in the special.

Gerard Farrés has set a good pace in the race, with virtually no mistakes and following the route instructions correctly. At the end has passed by one minute, his teammate on the Team Gas Gas JVO Team, finally finishing in fourth, occupying the same position in the general provisional results.

Marc Guasch, followed and has finished in the top ten, but lost time with some navigation errors, since the route of the road book contained some indications that he had misinterpreted.

Tomorrow is the third stage of Merzouga Rally, the longest, with a total of 284 kilometers and only 3 of them overlapping. It will cross three dunes: the Ouzina, Chebbi and Snagui.

JORDI VILADOMS

"Today I opened track all day. Over the first few kilometers I encountered Brucy who I've found was waiting, I've ran and I've been ahead almost to the end, when I was caught by Sunderland. I made a navigational error and I returned to the course. I am very happy that we did a good job. Fifth place is not bad considering it was marking the course in one of the most difficult days of 'navigation that I've ever done. For this I am very happy with the result. "

MARC GUASCH

"The roadbook today was complicated and I decided to risk a little in the navigation. It has not gone very well, because I've lost a little, but I noticed it right away and I could recover. We are here to learn, and this is going very well. The stage was also very physical and required a lot of concentration. The bike goes well and one of my duties is to ensure that the improvements we have incorporated are positive, and in this sense, it has been perfect."
