Adam Raga gets second place in Marseilles

The Gas Gas rider climbs to the second step of the podium at the Palais des Sports de Marseilles (Sports Palace) and is in second place in the X-Trial World Championship after a hotly contested final that was decided on the final lap.
Good performance for Adam Raga in the second round of the World X-Trial championship held this past weekend in Marseilles. The team Gas Gas rider climbed to the second step of the podium and earns the second position in the overall championship after a hotly contested final that ended up being decided in the second lap.

The Palais des Sports (Sports Palace) in the French city was dressed-up for the riders of the X-Trial World Championship. After opening the championship in Sheffield England one month earlier, they faced-off this time in Marseilles. The nearly five thousand spectators who filled the palace in Marseilles enjoyed a technical trial, the level went to extremes in the second round, in which riders had to face the six complicated sections of the final in the opposite direction.

Classified for the fast track to the final round, Adam Raga authoritatively commanded the first round of Marseilles X-Trial without committing any faults. However, in the second round, the difficulty of the sections went to extremes by changing the direction and with an error in the second of the six sections of the final, the Gas Gas rider lost his lead in this trial. From that moment, Raga and his main rival in the championship continued to show their abilities as they distanced themselves from the other riders without making mistakes. However, the difference of four points in the score remained until the end and Adam Raga closed the trial in second position after an excellent performance in Marseilles.

Thanks to his second place in Marseilles, Adam Raga moves into the second position in the world ranking, a position shared with Albert Cabestany as they are tied in points. Motivated and in top form after his victory in the prestigious trial de Toulouse -which was not a scoring event for the World Championship- and his second in Marseilles, the Gas Gas rider now focuses his attention on the next event on the calendar. The interest of global trial is held this coming week in France, as the town of Pau hosts this Friday, February 2nd the third round on the 2015 X-Trial calendar.

Adam Raga: "This last race went very well. I won the first round and in the beginning of the second, I made a mistake in zone two. And that difference was maintained until the end of the race. The trial of Marseilles has been a very technical and difficult test, especially in the second round. I am satisfied with our work. This is only the second round of the championship, just beginning, now second in qualifications and still much more, so we will see."
