Sandra Gómez second in Women’s WTC in Isola 2000

The Gas Gas rider from Madrid has been proclaimed second best rider in the Women’s World Trial Championship after achieving a second place in the last event of the women’s calendar held in Isola 2000.
The French ski resort Isola 2000 was where Sandra Gómez scaled the heights of second place in the Women’s Trial World Championship. This is the best result she has ever achieved in her sporting career in trial as she was previously third in 2012 and 2014.

The Gas Gas Factory FG Trial Team rider rounded off a season full off sporting successes and achievements for the brand at an international level. This has been a year in which two other trophies have also been won in addition to Sandra Gómez’ second place in the World Championship. The Trial 2 and Trial125 World Championship titles were won by the British riders Jack Price and Jack Peace, and with a final third position for Dan Peace in the Junior class.

The second position for the Spanish rider in this, the last event in the calendar, meant that the Gas Gas rider assured herself of a second position on the podium after only dropping 8 dabs throughout the two laps.

It’s been a busy weekend for the rider from Madrid as once again she climbed onto the second position of the podium, this time for Spain, in the Trial des Nations held at the same resort. Two results which close the season in the very best possible way for Sandra Gómez in her first year at Gas Gas.

Sandra Gómez: “We went straight to France from the Italian GP, knowing that depending on the result in Isola 2000, I could either finish second or fifth in the Championship. So I arrived feeling really enthusiastic, highly motivated for an event which I have always liked. I have good memories of it as my brother won the World Championship here. As a race it was almost too easy, with very few dabs. Emma (Bristow) finished with 2 and I came second with 8. And the truth is, she has been more consistent than the other riders in the World Championship. As far as I am concerned I am very pleased with this second place. I think it is an excellent result after a rather strange year having joined Gas Gas a little late. However, this second place will give us the energy and motivation to try and fight for the number one position next year.
